Chard
The leaf blade of the chard is green while the stem often is coloured. The red-stemmed chard is the most common in Sweden. The leaf blade is oval and the stem straight. The flavour is similar to that of spinach but with earthier tones.
The chard leaves are delicious raw, but can also be stewed for example. The leaves work well in salads, on sandwiches and as garnish.
Best stored wrapped at 1 to 4 °C.
