Brown mushrooms

The chestnut mushroom is also known as scaly wood mushroom. Unlike the regular mushroom, the chestnut mushroom is brown in colour. Like the regular mushroom, the flavour is mild, but some say the flavour of the chestnut mushroom is more full-bodied.

Chestnut mushrooms can be used in the same way as regular mushrooms. They work well in white and brown stews, soups and pies.

Best stored at 2 to 4 °C.
